Default Why is this game so hard to like, for me?

I really want to love this game. I've had it since almost release and have played it for over 300 hours, but I can't seem to find enjoyment in this game anymore. My first games through I almost beat both campaigns. On prof, I got to Thunderhead keep, played once, stopped. On factions, I got to the last mission and just didn't want to play anymore.

I played Tombs(I think? Underworld maybe.. It was a while ago) two or three times and LOVED it, but I can never find people to do it with. I've never tried PvP because, again, no one to do it with.

Just today, I tried starting an Ele/x on prof and I just couldn't get anywhere. I kept thinking of "What would this character do end-game?" but I realized I likely wouldn't play any endgame stuff and I just stopped...

I really want to play endgame stuff, but I've never found a guild. In over 300 hours, I've yet to join a guild that had over 30 active members and did Tombs/UW or PvP. I don't think I suck, either. I would say I was at least an above average monk, and a great mesmer... And still nothing.

Bad luck? Normal? Any suggestions? I really want to play this game.. I refuse to even uninstall it even though I don't even play it. >.<

Guild Wars is not an "end-game" game, since there's no character development past lv. 20. That's why many people quit for WoW. (which has a hell lot of end-game. Maybe an unhealthy amount of end-game)

Sadly, the only end-game your going to find is either playing PvP or making another character.

Join a guild (lower your standards) or find something else you enjoy.

my advice: go to la, or ascolon, just spam "looking for guild with x+ number of active members! want guildhall/cape/filled out merchants.uw/fow/doa" not to be mean to anyone who invites you, but if you see a majority of 1 monthers, then leave and keep going unitl you find a guild that you like. my suggestion though is not to start your own until you feel like you want that kind of commitment. gl

You DO NOT have to be in a 30+ active member guild to have fun in the game. All you need is a mature guild leader that knows who's naughty and who's nice and kick those damn bastards out when its needed.

My guild bearly have 20 active member, yet we have fun together. Our alliance have 7 core member guilds and some others come and go.

My leader, an officer and I just went on an Elonian mastering spree. Thats a grand total of 3 people needed plus heros and we had quite alot of fun, masters on 7 Elonian missions on Hard Mode, none attempted more than twice.

Having tons of active members doesn't make a guild fun. As proved by a guild in our alliance. They went on a mass inviting spree, they now have a ton of active members, but most are idiots... or just completely clueless.

Ps. Grand Court Hard Mode in 5:42 ftw ^^

I also recommend finding a guild to share experiences with.
But instead of going to where all the newb guilds are - which will likely die in a week - try a very high end area.

Firstly you should find a better class of guild regurlarly playing tombs, DOA, Urgoz, Deep etc and secondly there won't be as many spams to contend with.

I find that a good way to find some potentially good guilds.

Playing guild wars over ventrillo or teamspeak with guildies is like a different game also. It's much more fun and will help you get into the game.

Good luck!

Alright... So, I guess I'll look for a guild. Best place to go for it is what? Thunderhead and up, or?

Best to look would either be LA, maybe Kamadan or Kaineng for a regular guild, or even Random Arenas or Great Temple for a PvP guild.

I also want to get into more PvP, there isnt much time for me though to sift through people finding the right group or joining/making a PvP guild either. But I find in PvE theres still a hell lot to do. GW is like many PvE games in which the player plays for money. In gW one might buy 15k Armor, Obsidian armor or even a torment weapon. I dont know about you, but I like farming, especially solo. Its quite exhilarating to know you can kill a mob that entire teams find hard to survive. Titles to me are a waste of time, and I think are the closest things to crafting levels GW is going to get. Each profession has something to offer as you can probably tell by now. Some just dont click, but you said you are monk, mesmer and ele. On my ele alone I have been on for about 750 hours. If you really have nothing else to do, try contributing to the community. If you feel you have exhausted yourself of a profession, teach others about it.

Perhaps I'll try that, then...

I would do that, but again: I have no friends or guildmates to really get into anything. I loved my monk, breezed through the campaign and found myself sitting and thunderhead keep wondering why I'm even playing something online, because at least bots are constant in their suck. Then stop. I dunno, likely a clan is my best bet.

There is a guild recruitment section in this site. This is how I got invited by my guild now. You can post there all the specifications that you like and in no time you will receive private messages. Trust me it's worth it

What do you mean no endgame stuff? There's...

-Farming (a bit trickier now due to loot scaling)
-Titles
-Helping others
-Beating the other campaigns
-Becoming fabulously rich

It all depends on what you want to do. If you want to do a lot of Hero's Ascent, then hang out there and talk to people in those areas. If you like to do a lot of FoW or UW or other high-end PvE stuff then hang out in Temple of Ages and get in groups. People will notice that you are not in a guild, and will try to get you to join them.

Size, is not that important, it is your compatability with the other people. If you are over 30 and are in a guild with a bunch of high-school kids, well you are not gonna like it.

Be very clear about what you want, and tell them you will give them a try, even offer to pay back the 100 fee that they pay to invite you if you would rather be somewhere else. Don't be a guild hopper, but be selective. Getting in with a good guild really makes a big difference in game enjoyment.

Good guilds don't make all the difference. I've been guildless since I stopped playing PvP actively, and I have a helluva lot of fun in PvE (hard mode anyone?)

You mean raiding the same instance over and over and over for 9 months till you get full epic set?

Is this also why everyone is disguisted how in WoW the game ends once you hit level cap?
